Other common names: Rose of Sharon, Althea, Shrub Althea

Mature Height/spread: 8 to 12 feet tall by 6 to 10 feet wide, upright, spreading/branching multi-stemmed with lots of vertical branches.

Soil/Climate: full sun to partial shade, prefers moist, well-drained soils. It easily transplants. Annual pruning back will result in shoot vigor and larger flowers, likes hot weather. Rose of Sharon have good pollution tolerance - great for urban gardens.

Wildlife: Large exotic flowers are a favorite for hummingbirds and butterlfies.
