Mature height: 12-16 inches
Soil/Climate: Prefers rich, moist soils with high organic matter. Partial to full shade.
Notes: Will spread to large colonies in optimal conditions. Flowers in the spring and goes dormant in summer. Each flower produces a greenish fruit which turns yellow when ripe. All parts of the plant are poisonous except for the fully ripened fruit, which is used to make preservatives and jellies. Often grown as an ornamental in a native plant garden. Deer and rabbit resistant. Tolerant of juglone (walnut) toxicity.
Wildlife: small animals will eat the ripened fruit
