Maidenhair Fern (Adiantum Pedatum)

Description
Latin: Adiantum pedatum

Zones: 3-8

Other Common Name: Maidenhair fern, five-fingered fern, American maidenhair fern, Northern maidenhair fern

Mature Height: 2-3 ft.

Soil/Climate: Prefers moist, well drained sites, but adapts to a variety of conditions.

Notes: This variety of Maidenhair fern is native to North America. It is low maintenance especially when in a high-humidity environment with well-draining soil. Continue to mimic this ferns’ native habitat by planting in shade or where it will receive dappled sunlight exposure.  In nature they are found along ledges and banks of streams, close to in in the water.

Wild Life: Some claim this plant is resistant to damage from deer.
